Faith-Based Trauma Care: HEA. Sensitive and Ethical Approaches (Supporting Renewed Heart)

This in-person 2.5-hour Ethics continuing education* event focuses on trauma-informed care and faith-based approaches for social workers, therapists, and mental health providers. It includes an in-person presentation, guided discussion, and evaluation, with full attendance required for a certificate of completion. The training aims to enhance professionals' skills in integrating trauma-informed and faith-sensitive care.

This course provides an overview to equip clinicians with ethical and sensitive approaches to integrating faith in trauma care as well as increase awareness of the intersection between spirituality, trauma, and clinical ethics. 50% of Proceeds will benefit Renewed Heart.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

This course provides an overview to equip clinicians with ethical and sensitive approaches to integrating faith in trauma care as well as increase awareness of the intersection between spirituality, trauma, and clinical ethics.

  • Identify ethical considerations in addressing faith within trauma-informed care

  • Recognize potential benefits and risks of faith integration in trauma recovery

  • Integrate culturally and spiritually responsive interventions in clinical practice

  • Sam Beckmann, MSW, LCSW, LICSW, Board-Approved Supervisor, EMDR Certified Therapist, and Approved Consultant

    Sam is a clinical social worker and therapist with over a decade of experience in mental health. Based in the Portland, OR area and dually licensed and a board-approved supervisor in Oregon and Washington. She also serves as Secretary on the Renewed Heart Board. She believes in the importance of making therapy accessible in faith-based contexts and affirms that all individuals deserve mental health support, regardless of their religious or spiritual
